LADMC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity which strives to improve the lives of residents in Los Angeles County through public health education, community engagement initiatives, health fairs, professional growth programs, and nurse leadership training. The critical shortage of qualified mental health workers, especially the BHU Nurses, is still rising, hence the Foundation’s own commitment to support and raise mental health awareness and behavioral health nursing, is crucial.

Our community outreach programs touch on community education regarding access to prevention and treatment, engagement in care and improving care quality. We provide behavioral health topics including integrating physical and mental health, and best practices in mental health and substance disorder services.

And LADMC hospital has a county contract to help homeless people needing treatment for their acute behavioral/mental illness. The Foundation has been very instrumental in providing placement for this population, after his/her acute hospitalization.

Public Health Education

L.A. Downtown Medical Center partners with health education stakeholders to host events throughout the Los Angeles region, reaching at least 2,000 attendees per year. Health education events will provide attendees with information on topics such as:

mental health resources
diabetes prevention
hypertension prevention
basic health maintenance practices
healthy eating
exercise

Nurse Leadership Training

Making Los Angles-area nurses into leaders by emphasizing:

the latest patient-centered practices
patient communication
new technologies improving patient outcomes
workshops in preventative care
workshops in wellness programs
team leadership

Health Fairs

L.A. Downtown Medical Center’s nurse leaders run health fairs throughout the Los Angeles region for 20,000 patients per year. LADMC Foundation’s health fairs provide communities with:

administering vaccines
teaching about basic healthcare information
healthcare screenings, such as diabetes tests, blood pressure measurements, and oxygen saturation tests
basic information on test results and related health information

Professional Growth Programs

Ongoing nurse education and training ensures quality healthcare for our community.
